The MSU Historic Costume and Textiles Collection was invited to organize a special exhibition as part of the Annual Charles Templeton Ragtime Festival hosted by MSU Mitchell Memorial Library. Featured this year was a display of five 1920s women's fashions with floral motifs. The exhibition titled "Fashion Blooms in the 1920s" showed how flowers were used as embroidered, printed, and beaded embellishments as a way to accessorize the silk drop-waist styles of the Jazz Age. This is the fourth year the Historic Costume and Textiles Collection has exhibited during the Ragtime Festival. Past shows include exhibits of 1920s undergarments and lingerie, wedding fashions, and styles from around 1917, the year of the first jazz recording.
The MSU Historic Costume and Textiles Collection collects and preserves historic objects relating to the study of fashion and costume history. The Collection provides opportunitites to research, interpret, and experience historical objects through exhibitions and displays. For more information contact Lori Neuenfeldt at email@example.com
