Dunn-Seiler Museum participates in "Red Flags" installation by artist Andy Goldsworthy

Amy collects samples

Dunn-Seiler Museum Curator, Amy Moe-Hoffman, received a surprising but welcome email toward the end of 2019. The message was from the New York Gallery of world renowned artist, Andy Goldsworthy. The artist was looking for samples of red-colored soil from every state in the U.S. for an exhibition called "Red Flags" to be installed at Rockefeller Center in the Spring of 2020. "I was so excited to participate in the project," said Moe-Hoffman. "I have always admired the work of Andy Goldsworthy, so to be contacted by his representatives out of the blue was really a thrill."

As a thank you for participation in the project, the Dunn-Seiler Museum has been gifted a small red flag made by Andy Goldworthy using the sediment collected in Mississippi. The flag will be on display in the museum once regular business hours resume.
